Dinner & Photography

My friend, Vin, was back in town ... so we met up last night to catch up on where each has been (he, of course, traveling has more interesting stories, imho) ... it was a great dinner at the HImalayas Restaurant in Boulder ... it was delicious ... we ended the meal with a fabulous cup of chai ... YUM!
Our conversation kept hitting on the topic of photography and getting him set up with an online storage spot for his travels and such ... so I recommended Flickr ... and then the conversation came up about one of his photos that he felt incredibly lucky to have captured ... it was one of his trips to Africa, in Chad... check it out:
I've never had the pleasure of capturing a lightning strike in any of my photography ... so this is something I am deeply in awe of .... AND ... his client at the time actually used this on a presentation or brochure of some sort ... how cool!
This, of course, reminded me of Enya's song, Storms in Africa ... I am sure the dynamics of the storms there are breath-taking!
All in all, the evening was very fun ... this friendship is very different from most of my other friends ... there is an extraordinary challenge that I face on a personal level ... but I guess that's part of growth ... learning from each of the experiences we encounter with others. I guess the challenge that I face is when I am attracted to certain friends and there is no reciprocal attraction... but a feeling of strong friendship. It's a bit tough not to hurt from the rejection of one set of feelings ... while still honoring the other feelings of "just friends."
All friendships are extraordinary opportunities to learn more about where one is *at* with their own Self and how well they react/respond to social interactions with or without expectations.

that photo is wayyyyyy cool.
glad you guys had an enjoyable dinner and evening. ;)
“just” friends– sometimes, that's even better.
I've been in that spot before, but it was a long, long time ago. I remember. I remember long, long ago, that I thought it was something wrong with me, I tried to be more this or that, but ultimately that backfired of course. good for you that you can respect and honor your friends' feelings of wanting to be just friends and don't forget to honor and cherish who you are too.
nice photo too.
Yea ~K I know all bout dealing with that kind of challenge from the other side. We should talk more about it sometime.
Also, Awesome photo! Am I the only one who sees the UFO?
