A year ago, January 12th a friend and co-worker passed away, the CFO of the company I was working for at that time... it is the hardest death I've experienced nearing that of a family member even.  In honor of her memoria I offer this video as a tribute and a prayerful wish that she is still "with us" as an angelic energy.

Music to Express

iMogen Heap - Hide & Seek

Where are we? What the hell is going on?
The dust has only just begun to form,
Crop circles in the carpet, sinking, feeling.
Spin me round again and rub my eyes.
This can't be happening.
When busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads heavy.

Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines.
All those years they were here first.

Oily marks appear on walls
Where pleasure moments hung before.
The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity of this
still life.

Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines. (Oh, you won't catch me around here)
Blood and tears,
They were here first.

Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it's all for the best? Ah of course it is.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it's just what we need? And you decided this.
Mmm what you say?
What did she say?

Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I dont believe you.
You don't care a bit. You don't care a bit.

Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I don't believe you.
You don't care a bit. You don't care a bit.

You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.

EMPOWER Music!

Posted on Feb 14th, 2008 by MsCapriKell : Essential Wellness Consultant MsCapriKell
SixthSense (Dragan) has been a member of the communnity for quite a long time; I am honored to have met him, helped organize a Huntington Beach Zaangha Beach Party with him, helped raise money for a Walk-a-thon for the animals of a local No-Kill Animal Shelter in Seal Beach, and, most importantly, I am do deeply honored to call him a very dear friend.

After taking a leap of faith by quitting his "day job" to follow his life passion, SixthSense has kicked off a one-of-a-kind program that helps children express their passion and their respect for the world or voice the deeply burried fear of change in a safe environment.  Empowering children to express themselves through music - what a worthy cause.  Check it out on http://www.empowermusic.org/  and spread the word, offer feedback, or just send him a quick note of gratitude for living his life "on Purpose" for the greater good -- for being an example in this world to all ... that we can BE the Change we wish to see in the world!

I am so proud of this news and will happily promote this project ... so do stay tuned for new and events about EmpowerMusic.Org  --  they are out to change the world!!!  We can learn so much from children!

Thank you, Dragan, for trusting the Universe enough to allow this beautiful idea of yours to bloom into something that is healing, loving, and empowering!!  You ROCK! (or Rap! ;)

The Yo-Yo Effect

Posted on Feb 15th, 2008 by MsCapriKell : Essential Wellness Consultant MsCapriKell
This has been a rollercoaster of a ride this week for me.  How can I explain this?  Let's look at it this way:

I have been in love and deeply involved in a relationship for over two years.  This love has opened new avenues for me and encouraged me to pursue what I want most with it.  And to not settle ... to stand firm.  This love has empowered me deeply.  And now... this love has decided that there needs to be a "break" of sorts ... so I am feeling "dumped" ... and prior to the dump, like any girlfriend, I try to hold onto the relationship with all my might and even to the point that I keep doing the relationship things that a good girlfriend does ... even though the love has turned away from me.  So this week has felt like the truth of the separation has hit me like a ton of bricks.  I know that I can survive this ... I've survived many breaks from loves.  Deep breaks.  I've committed my life to this current love.... and, for right now, it feels like my whole life has shattered -- even though the logical mind knows that I can move forward through this.  I have to.  Disillusionment is a powerful life lesson.

Breaking up is never easy.  The attachment, the need to place blame, the need to feel wanted even though the act of breaking up totally invalidates that.... psychologically, I understand the pains that I am going through right now.  But the thing that bothers me most is that my intellectual mind has very little control of my "being" ... the Emotional body is standing firm in her position right now and demands to be ALLOWED this moment to mourn the loss, to BE hurt, to FEEL what this means deeply... to LIVE in the moment.  Demanding bitch.

I feel like I am on fire in a very unusual way... I know, quite logically and in deep faith, that the Phoenix will rise again and be incredibly strong and carry me forward and that I will perservere with the strength that this entire experience has given me.  But in this present moment I am a weak bird of flame and ash that can be knocked over by the very wind of a passerby.  In the very present moment, I know I am both weak and inherently strong... and yet all I can feel is the weak ash falling into the pyre.  I am disappearing... and there is no guarantee that *I* will arise again .... that is only a fable that has been told ... a story.... something to believe in.... how can I know that truth but only by walking through it and living it... to see if it really happens for myself.

I have been crying for nearly 5 hours .... do you know what it feels like to the human body to feel loss and pain.... to actually loose water for 5 hours?  You really could knock me over with the wind of a passerby right now .... I haven't eaten .... the only reason I drink water is to replenish the tears and not choke on my dry throat.  I feel like I am loosing my wits.  Is this what insanity feels like?  I don't know who to trust anymore.... I don't know what is real .... I don't know how to trust even the decisions that I myself have made .... my pyre burns and I can only pray that it take me quickly.

I will be back again on Monday.  God(dess) willing.

Personal Oracle Reading: Goddesses

Posted on Feb 15th, 2008 by MsCapriKell : Essential Wellness Consultant MsCapriKell
Oonagh:  Easy Does It -- There is no need to hurry or force things to happen.  Everything is occuring in perfect timing.

Maeve:  Cycles & Rhythms -- Honor the cycles of your body, energy levels and emotions.

KALI:  Endings & Beginnings -- The old must be released so that the new can enter.

The most challenging thing for me to see is the "perfect timing" ... especially when I am trying to stay active -- be a part of the *doing*-- to manifest my dreams.  I get it ... I am supposed to let go of the oars... but that doesn't mean that I won't be headed for a huge waterfall.  How much do we trust and allow ... and how much do we protect?

Here's what the guidebook shares about this Goddess:
Oonagh - the Celtic goddess, is married to Fionnbharr, the leader of the Irish Tuatha De Danaans.  Oonagh and her clan were some of the original inhabitants of Ireland.  When the Gaels invaded their land, the Tuathas didn't run or fight back.  Instead, they transformed themselves into leprechauns.  Their ingenious solution allowed them to stay in Ireland in peace.  Call upon Oonagh for help with your own transitions, and she'll guide you in creative and magical ways.

+++++++++++

And then Cycles & Rhythms... yes, yes... honoring the emotions that I feel .... not always the easiest thing to do when so much of the world abhors emotions and feelings... "this is not the appropriate place for that" ... who has an off-switch to their emotions?  Is that really healthy?

Here's what the guidebook shares about this Goddess:
Maeve -  a Celtic goddess (hmmm... seeing a pattern here), she celebrates her femininity.  Her sexual appetite is legendary, and she's been said to favor kings as her lovers.  Legend says that Maeve invokked labor pains on an army seeking to invade her land, and that she demanded that the battle cease during her menstrual cycle. (DAMN!)

+++++++++++

Endings and Beginnings sounds so much like the Cycles & Rhythms ... it only seems natural that everything has a beginning and an ending which gives birth to a new beginning which will eventually also have it's ending... and so it goes.  Kali has been such a powerful presence in my life that it almost feels comforting to see the card -- she has been such a great friend to me -- the archetype surrounds me often.

Here's what the guidebook shares about this Goddess:
Kali -- This ultra-powerful Hindu goddess is feared by those who don't understand the natural cycles of birth, death, and rebirth.  Kali is the embodiment of Mother Nature, who cleanses away the old with natural storms and fires to make the ground fertile for new crops and life.  Kali is the ultimate get-things-done goddess, and she's a powerful ally to those who call upon her.  Like a wise stage mother, she'll push you beyond your comfort zone to reach the heights of your potential.

....

So .... that's the reading that I asked for from the Goddesses today .... after my last post, I started thinking about all the people for whom I have done readings ... and it hit me ... DO a reading for yourself ... you feel confused... you feel hurt ... now is the time to LET GO and let Spirit work for you, too.

I still feel the pains...  I am trusting this reading and allowing the guidance ... I will allow the emotions to flow as they need to in order to cleanse this stagnant energy away ... so that I will know how to move forward ... to get back to work on my Life Purpose... and stop trusting in others to help me manifest that.  Instead ... I trust no one.  But the one thing I do trust is un-name-able.... it is the ultimate unknown... and that is the only thing I can trust... because all else is man-made and is incredibly fallible.

Okay with BEing Angry

Posted on Feb 20th, 2008 by MsCapriKell : Essential Wellness Consultant MsCapriKell
As most of you can tell from my blogs (for those who read them anyway) ... that I have been going through rollercoaster rides ... right now my life is presenting many ups and downs... I am not unthankful for any of that... just really challenging to go through some days ... yesterday evening I started reading a book that basically (now, mind you this is from the state of mind that I've been in lately) stated that everything that I have is obviously what I want at a subconscious level ... so it's my fault that I am in the situations that I am in because of past issues that I haven't dealt with ... like abandonment ... I obviously don't feel worthy of having someone (be it a relationship or friendships) stay around because it's the pattern that I had as a child ... so by patterened conditioning I have come to believe at a deep level that I don't deserve closeness.  This is the short version of what I dealt with last night.

I am quite well aware, intellectually, that everything that has happened is due to my past and how I was treated as a child.... and that because I've hung onto those beliefs, I keep recreating "hell on earth" for myself ... even amidst the happy situations... thus the rollercoaster extreme dips and arches... when it's good, it's usually really good ... and when it's bad, it's devistatingly bad... because the old wound is reopened.  I am trying my best to stay focused on the positive.  But I also know that this does not mean that I won't go through ALL of the emotions that are out there... Anger is real, it's a feeling ... it serves a purpose... much like the pain of being burnt by a fire... that serves a purpose... to remind you that the element "fire" burns... so as not to harm yourself in the future by it.  I feel the same about Anger ... it serves a purpose... it brings back the deeper issues of my childhood that I have not healed as of yet... it keeps reminding me of the *feeling* that I need to go through in order to be healed... I can't avoid it.

I think the thing that angers me most is that I received the book as a gift and so (also reminding you all that I was in a very confused state) - I took it as a *message* from that person that "It's only your own fault that you are where you are right now and feeling this loss (earlier blog post)... because you obviously feel that is what you deserve... it's your own responsibility and no one outside yourself is to blame."  That's what I felt last night ... that's the "neener" message I got from it.  So I sat with that and truly felt where the energy in my body was blocking because of that feeling.  Hello THIRD chakra!  I felt like I was choking there.  So I let the anger be there and open up whatever is sitting there... self-esteem issues, old wounds ... it angered me to think that as a child I subconsciously *choose* being abused and neglected... because I thought I deserved it?  I mean, yeah, as an adult I can see how I've carried that pattern by *choosing* the relationships that I get into... friendships and all.  But, how far does it go back?  When do I stop peeling the onion back?  According to the book, it says that it's all the way back to the point that I separated from the Truth of who I truly AM.  And from there, the split from there into ego.... and so on and so on ... and that I am creating a world based on the pains of separating from Spirit.

That's the deep side of the coin ... so .... what I am *doing* right now is working THROUGH emotions and feelings that I've been blocking.  And waiting through the "winter" of my seedling life... playing with the beginnings and endings... the cycles and rhythms.  Waiting.  Story of my life.

Divine Timing of Laughter

Posted on Feb 20th, 2008 by MsCapriKell : Essential Wellness Consultant MsCapriKell
Okay.... so sitting in my cubicle in this area, I rarely hear things that make me laugh out loud ... just now, after finishing my last post ... I heard a few people talking about what they gave up for Lent ... a co-worker was passing around chocolate covered almonds... candy... which is something one of my other co-workers has given up "sweets".... so I then hear another co-worker announce ... "Over here, I'll take some ... for Lent, I've given up religion."

LOL!!!

Divination via Quiz

Posted on Feb 20th, 2008 by MsCapriKell : Essential Wellness Consultant MsCapriKell

You are the World

Completion, Good Reward.

The World is the final card of the Major Arcana, and as such represents saturnian energies, time, and completion.

The World card pictures a dancer (on a classic deck) in a Yoni (sometimes made of laurel leaves). The Yoni symbolizes the great Mother, the cervix through which everything is born, and also the doorway to the next life after death. It is indicative of a complete circle. Everything is finally coming together, successfully and at last. You will get that Ph.D. you've been working for years to complete, graduate at long last, marry after a long engagement, or finish that huge project. This card is not for little ends, but for big ones, important ones, ones that come with well earned cheers and acknowledgements. Your hard work, knowledge, wisdom, patience, etc, will absolutely pay-off; you've done everything right.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

Divinations via Our Animal Guides

Posted on Feb 21st, 2008 by MsCapriKell : Essential Wellness Consultant MsCapriKell
I saw two bald eagles this morning on my way to work ... I can only barely describe what the feeling was.... when I first saw them take off from the trees next to a manmade reservoir, my first thought was "those are a raptor bird" ... I knew this from the way they moved in flight... from the wingspan (my goddess they are huge birds!) ... but then I started doubting, thinking it was maybe a couple of geese who'd missed the group .... but the birds flew infront of me as I was driving (and along side me for quite a while too - I noticed them - they noticed me?)... anyway, they twisted ever so slightly in their flight so that I could see the one true sign that it was indeed the bald eagles .... their beautiful heads ... so white... the powerful grace with which they flew is still taking my breath away as I recall to write this.  Huge birds.  I was awe-struck by them this morning.

I was deep in thought when they captured my attention ... so I knew this was a sign for me to connect with them ... so I googled today and found this:

Power Animals: Eagle

"We earthbound humans have for countless eons been inspired by the sight of eagles soaring high in the sky.

In ancient Greece this bird was associated with Zeus, who sometimes turned himself into one in order to hurl his thunderbolts. In some Native American cultures the eagle is the most typical representation of the Thunderbird, also associated with thunder and lightning. The eagle is also associated with the sun, having sometimes been called in the Gaelic language Suil-na-Greine, Eye of the Sun.

In addition to its association with the powerful energies of the sky, Eagle holds a deeper meaning. This bird tells us that life looks different from an aerial perspective. It urges us to take a new look at the problems and challenges of our lives, and suggests that when we don't readily find solutions it may be because our vision is too limited to see answers that lie just out of sight.

In connection with this, one of the lessons of eagle wisdom is to teach us not to rely exclusively on intellectual solutions. Eagle, through its connection to the element of air, is connected to intelligence, but also to Spirit, that sense of knowing which goes far beyond intellect.

Eagle is also associated with courage, for to give up our limited perspectives, to release ourselves from thought patterns which are comfortable (even when they don't seem to be working) and fly into a larger world requires that we be brave enough to soar into an unknown realm. (!!!!!) This message is further emphasized by the many stories, both Native American and Celtic, of shamans and druids who shapeshifted into eagles.

Mental and emotional shapeshifting is sometimes needed if we want to grow and learn. Though there are risks in allowing our beings to assume new forms the rewards are greater. Eagle urges us to recognize that the earth is not our only home; it calls to us to join it in the flight to our true home: the world of Spirit."

What did you learn about yourself yesterday?

Posted on Feb 25th, 2008 by MsCapriKell : Essential Wellness Consultant MsCapriKell
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for February 24, 2008:

Reflecting this back to the day it was asked .... the "yesterday" in question would have been Saturday, the 23rd ... and on that day... I learned that I am not in as bad of shape as I thought I was ... I did a quick hike with a friend at Chautauqua Park in Boulder.  I think we went up Bluebell, across something (Rock Garden?) and then down over to Mesa .... I learned that I do still have muscles in my body that are actively working (they are reminding me even through today!!)  And that reminded me how much I miss my physical activities ... hiking is easy, you don't have to pay a membership fee and the workout is incredible!!  You can even choose different paths if you want to increase the intensity of your workout!  And you are right there in nature the whole time .... connected... breathing!  That was the other thing I learned, too .... that I am still acclimating to my new environment ... breathing at this altitude is still a workout in itself... so the fact that I did this hike and didn't pass out.... positive achievement! :)

"Yesterday" was fabulous!

A Lesson in Character

Posted on Feb 25th, 2008 by MsCapriKell : Essential Wellness Consultant MsCapriKell
Another great thing that happened this weekend was a conversation that somehow enveloped a quote from somewhere... can't remember who said the quote or where I read it.... but it was something to the effect of:

CHARACTER: you can tell the character of a person by the way they treat the people who have nothing to offer them.

Update:
I found the source of my conversation; it was David's blog ... down in the quotes section listed... that was the spark that ins[pyre]ed the conversation.

This brought up a very rich conversation about how we (as a whole human race) treat people who have no "apparent" or immediate value to us.  This is something that has disturbed me for a while ... I've seen blog posts from people who actually admit that they only interact, by choice, with people who are as intelligent as themselves or more so... so that they "get something more" out of the conversation and gain more intellect and (status?).... How is it that we are so quick to judge a fellow human's contribution to us based on what they can offer us?  EVERY human has something to offer us... even the homeless person on the street can teach us about faith in a perspective that we have never considered taking.  EVERY human has something to offer us ... and the moment we stop seeing that .... is the very moment we are disconnected from the Source of All That Is.  It is the moment our Ego grows and takes control of what it thinks is "best" for us.

When I connect with someone as a friend, it is not to get something from them.... I see the beauty of that person as they are ... the wholeness of what they exude.  I see that I can learn from every person that I encounter... whether a conversation has occurred or not ... a shared smile, a handshake, a passing glance.... everything is an opportunity.... every human is a beautiful mirror in which we can take a moment to see more deeply into ourselves.  I treasure this awareness ... but I do not grasp for what I am supposed to gain from each of these encounters ... I am open... I am frightened... I try with all of my might to move past any blocks or fears or pride issues to see what it is that I get to learn each day with the people in my life.  And as someone in my life once told me, "You are beneath no one."  And with that I also knew the complimentary truth that "I am also no greater than anyone else."

I appreciate each and every person I encounter ... whether it is a pleasant experience or not is really irrelevant ... for each encounter is a chance to see how I happen to perceive Love looking back at me.

And that helps me determine my own character... and what part I am playing in this movie called Life.  Who do I think I am?

MsK's - So far this year on planet earth (meme)...

Posted on Feb 26th, 2008 by MsCapriKell : Essential Wellness Consultant MsCapriKell
Here's a list of some things I’ve been checking out in 2008

Some audio in the iTunes right now

Falling Fruit tv – amazing podcasts ranging in topics... but deeply based in spiritual development... and much fun!

Dream Gates  – Robert Moss  (via LearnOutLoud)
With this program, you can learn how to navigate your own dreams and bring back their gifts of healing, self-understanding, and creative inspiration. (woot!!!)

Wisdom of Joseph Campbell – Joseph Campbell / Michael Toms  (via LearnOutLoud)
This is a collection of conversations between Michael Toms and the late Joseph Campbell, recorded over a span of 12 years. In these stimulating discussions, central questions into humanity's quest for meaning are explored.

"Work"

Well, that has shifted from what I dreamed I would be doing to "wait and see" ... life throws us curveballs.... it's up to me to make a homerun hit out of it!!!  I am doing my best at this moment.

Latest Book Finds

Runes for TransformationKaedrich Olsen

a brief description:

The runes have been established, in the modern era, as useful tools for divination. To the ancients runes were primarily a writing tool; secondarily they were a transformational tool. Since the foundation of divination has been laid, the time has come to expand the influence of the runes. This book teaches one that all of the runes exist in all things, including within one’s own being. When one becomes “tuned” to specific runic energy they start to make the inner changes, then the external world follow suit. In essence, the runes have a name, an energy, and a meaning - all are tied together. From the name and purpose of the runes, a mantra or affirmation can be formed. -this tunes the conscious mind to a goal. The runes’ meanings provide the emotional motivation for achievement. The runes, being spiritual in nature, opens one’s spiritual side to the possibility of attaining the goal. When these three subtle realities are in tune to the goal, then the physical accomplishment of the goal falls easily in place.

Travel and geography

Well .... 2008 has seen me planted in the middle of the US ... some place I never thought I would be since I moved to California in 1991 ... wild how the universe moves us like pawns, rooks, Queens!  I am loving this new geography and the friendships that are developing in it.  I am learning new levels of appreciation for nature and her seasons again.

I do plan to step outside my comfort zones this year and travel in one unique way .... I've never been on a cruise yet ... so that is my goal this year ... to plan an outting on a cruise ship.  And then keep expanding my travels from there.  New experiences... lots of learning.
