I woke up late today and I am thrilled how our project is sprouting.  I just have an idea.  What if we make into a book all those wonderful posts made by zaadzters.  The pages of the book will look like this page.

… I always pick up a penny from a street no matter if it is heads up or down.. don't think it is a shame- i think it is a luck. sometimes it is a penny , sometimes it is  40 dollars so keep your eyes open!
remember in march,  we were driving in a blizzard to denver- there was the flower kings concert- artur's favorite… he of course bought a ticket for me too, for 35$. as soon as the music started I left : ((  no matter if it is possible to die from a noise or not- I was about to die!
I waited a little in a italian restaurant and than went to the car we parked on a street, it rained, it was about 11pm… as I approached the car I saw Something at the front wheel.. it was: wet, dirty, forty dollars! for my waisted ticked i guess!

yay pennies! once i found a jar full of pennies scattered on the road, and the children in my neighborhood where like lions on a fresh kill.

 

How would you like to receive a letter thru the mail in the future written by you many years before? 

 

Announcing the world premier of my new project…drum roll please…,

 

This is my new project…,
My new project is called ”WRITE A LETTER TO YOURSELF PROJECT.”  I would like you all who would like to do this to think about this.  In the following days, write a letter to yourself.  As a guideline, talk about yourself and where you are at the moment in your life.  Then talk about what you would like to achieve in the future.  Write down nice things that you would like to tell to yourself.  I want you to write everyday and not reread what you have written.  When you have written several or a lot of pages during a course of several days, I want you to fold those letters and seal it in an envelope.  Write down the dates when you wrote your letters. 

Now here is where the fun part and the magic and mystery begins.  I want you to address that envelope to yourself and put a stamp on it.  Then put that self-addressed stamped envelope in another bigger envelope and send it to me on an address I will furnish later.  You can even have a sealed envelope within a sealed envelope of a letter to your significant other and hand it to them when you received it again many years from now.  I will hold on to your letters that I received and will store it in my  ”Sacred fire-proof God Box” which will be placed on a sacred space altar where it will be basked and be infused with sacred chanting, mantra, invocations, and the lovely sounds of gongs, bells, and my heart chakra 16-inch crystal sounding bowl.  I will not open and I will not read your letters.  I will hold on to them for several years and then mail them back to you after many years.  I will not tell how long I am going to hold them.  One day in the future, you will just be surprise to receive a letter written by you and you will be reading something that came from you that you have forgotten.

People from outside United States who want to do this can send me their sealed self-addressed letters and not worry about the stamp.  I will take responsibility for the stamp.  I asked US residents to put just one stamp just so that when you received your letter again you can see that wonderful stamp you attached to it again.  Of course, many years from now postage price  will be different, so I am going to take care of that too.

So if you want to do this, meditate on your loving intentions and start writing from the heart and soul.  You can write on the comments section of my blog that you want to do this.  Abundant blessings and healing to all.  Thank you!

Q: What advice would you give people who want to connect with their
spiritual lives but don't know where to begin?

There's an old saying, “The path begins right beneath our feet.” It doesn't
mean we have to look down; it means we have to attend, to pay attention to
where we are and what we're looking for in life. It means we should look
into ourselves and at our motivations, and raise our sights, spiritually
speaking, and try to connect with the bigger picture. We can begin to do
this in any number of ways: by slowing down a little, by simplifying our
lives, by taking a vacation or sabbatical, or by devoting half an hour every
day to our true selves - our transcendent selves. Making time in daily life
for personal prayer, journal writing, or meditation allows us to connect
with the sacred right here in our own life. Because if it's not here, it's
nowhere. The Good Book says, “The Kingdom of heaven is within.” And Buddhism
says nirvana can be found in the here-and-now. So, we have to begin right
where we are, and that's the good news. The bad news is that it's so obvious

Choosing Universal Love

THE BODHISATTVA VOW

Traditional teachings about rebirth say that most of us are
unwitting prisoners on the wheel of samsara; we keep returning
because we have no choice. According to this way of thinking,
there are also men and women walking among us who are here
of their own conscious volition. These men and women are
known as Bodhisattvas. Bodhi means awakening; sattva means
being. This is a being who is ready for nirvana but whose
compassion is so great that he or she remains on this earth
solely in order to reduce suffering and help free others. A
Bodhisattva is someone with pure, impeccable intentions - a
gentle yet fearless spiritual warrior who strives unceasingly to
help everyone reach nirvanic peace and enlightenment.

A transcendent Bodhisattva has seen beyond delusion and
selfishness; he or she has felt and experienced the intolerable
despair, alienation, misery, and suffering in the world: Because
such a person is able to understand that we are all caught in
the same existential plight, he or she seeks to alleviate the
suffering of all.

In Mahayana Buddhism, one is encouraged to take what we
call the Bodhisattva Vow. Taking this vow means you understand
the world's pain, and you commit to work for the enlightenment
of all. That means all the people, all the creatures, including
all the inhabitants of the air and sea - insects, birds, shellfish,
dolphins, whales and sharks, all the shiny little eyes in the dark
forests, as well as all the creepy crawly, buzzing things trying to
get in and chew on your house or on you.

The first time I heard the Bodhisattva Vow was in I971,
and I was at Lama Thubten Yeshe's monastery in Nepal. I felt
overwhelmed by the magnitude of it all. And I'm still somewhat
intimidated by it. Lama Yeshe explained the vow very
simply. He said, 'Think of what you want, and realize that all
beings want and need the same things. They are just seeking it
through different ways.'

If you were to take the Bodhisattva Vow, you would commit
yourself in this way:

    Sentient beings are numberless: I vow to liberate them.
    Delusions are inexhaustible: I vow to transcend them.
    Dharma teachings are boundless: I vow to master them.
    The Buddha's enlightened way is unsurpassable: I vow to
    embody it.

This is a four-line affirmation sangha members chant and
avow every day. To take the Bodhisattva Vow means that at
least for a moment, one can see past one's own problems and
preoccupations and elevate the spiritual gaze toward universal
fulfillment. The moment you affirm that great intention - to
work for the good of all living creatures - whether or not you
are always able to follow it as perfectly as you might wish -
you are called a Bodhisattva, a child of the Buddhas.
When this epiphany occurs, all the Buddhas rejoice. The
scriptures say that as soon as you make this Bodhisattva Vow
to realize enlightenment and relieve universal suffering; all the
Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, devas, angels, and guardians of the
Dharma clap their hands and rain down celestial flowers and
divine nectar. It's like you scored a touchdown or hit a home
run. As poetic as that seems, I really feel that this is true in a
spiritual sense. You can feel it yourself as you open a little
more to the joy of spiritual awakening.

Hi everyone!  I shared “The Secret” with my son lastnight.  It was fun to watch his face transform from that look that said “Okay, I guess I'll humor her and watch this” to excitement!  What was really funny was how he would say “you tricked me in to feeling such and such a way” about a few different things - “you used this didn't you?”  and I laughed and said sure, but how was it a trick?  If he wasn't receptive in the first place how would it have worked and was he sorry about any of it?  He admitted, “well, no” and then his excitement continued to grow.  All is good ….except that he wants a pit bull!  Hmmmm, can I start intending that he wants a poodle or something?

 

So cool to hear the younger generation “getting” The Secret. Good job introducing it! Great for him understanding so quickly that he can set his mind to getting something he desires and that he in fact can create it. It takes some of the adults I know a couple of viewings before they grasp that concept. :)

As for the pit bull thingy. Fear not Mom…… Pit Bull Terriers get a really bad rap in our culture because all we see is the unfortunate side effect of irresponsible owners and inappropriate training. I know some Pits(raised properly) that are the sweetest most loyal dogs you will ever meet. It seems to me that the younger generation is attracted to the Pit breed often times because they feel a connection. ie: they both feel misunderstood and have that common bond between just them. I trust that you all will choose the dog that brings the greatest love and highest lessons to your lives. The right animal will find its way to your home. They always do. :)

A fleeting life is all we have. So why do we boast, why do we disproportionately exaggerate our earthly, mortal and brittle achievements? The physical in us, no matter how strong, fails us when the Prince of Gloom appears.   I was at Border's Books and I saw this beautiful edition of Ulysses by James Joyce, the one with the gold color edges.  I opened it and the very first thing that I saw in the pages is,

“A penny for your thoughts.” 

How cool is that?

 

That is WAY cool!  I shared “The Secret” with my step kids and my nine year old step son said he wanted to find money when we went to the store….then he said of course he would turn it in, not keep it.  He found a fake wallet with money sticking out of it….inside was a little course on honesty etc.  How cool was that?

When my kids were in High School they used to go down town and leave pennies around town so that all the tourists could see them and pick them up and all the day have good luck. I figure my town is still rocking in all the luck they left then … and all the tourists took it home as well and then the penny went somewhere else and had more good luck …

Just a few minutes ago I was at the grocery store loading groceries into the trunk of my car. A man who was passing looked at my bumper stickers (one political, the other the word “Coexist” with each letter carrying a different religious symbol.) “Well,” he said, “I can see YOU’RE a dreamer!” I smiled at him and answered without missing a beat, “ But I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.” He stopped walking and smiled back at me. “‘Lennon,’ he said. Lord, that was a long time ago.” He shook his head, then pointed at my bumper. “Where’d you get those?”
“I’ve got one of each in my glove box,” I answered. “If you’ll put them on your car I’ll give them to you.” He laughed out loud. Then he said he didn’t have the nerve to drive around with “Coexist” on his bumper, but he’d take one of the other ones. I opened the car and got one out for him. “I’ve got one of each in my glove box,” I answered. “If you’ll put them on your car I’ll give them to you.” He laughed out loud. Then he said he didn’t have the nerve to drive around with “Coexist” on his bumper, but he’d take one of the other ones. I opened the car and got one out for him. He squinted at the mountains where the sun was setting, turning the fog in the valley into whipped apricots. “I miss him,” he said, “you know. Lennon.”
“Yeah,” I said. “Me too.”
